Energy and functional drinks usually contain ingredients such as caffeine, taurine, vitamins, or plant extracts, which are added to support energy, alertness, or other functional benefits according to the recipe. Since some of these ingredients are used in very small amounts, our energy drink processing lines use mass flow meters, checkweighers, and PLC control to keep dosing within the required range. Accurate dosing is important to ensure the energy drinks have a balanced flavor, especially because certain ingredients have a naturally bitter or medicinal taste. During production, the PLC control system monitors the dosing data and can alert the operator if one of the main ingredients is not within the set range. If the amount of one of the main ingredients is too high or too low, filling can be stopped so the beverage can be checked. Samples can then be tested to confirm the actual ingredient levels before production starts again.
